The art of sound: Expositie door Sofia Origo

Het hangt er al een aantal weken: de kunst van Sofia Origo. Aanstaande zondag is er een officieël openingsfeest waar je de kunstenaar van dit werk kunt ontmoeten. Vanaf 15:30 tot 17:30 ben je welkom bij Averechts voor dit evenement.

Are they soothing sounds? Or do they create tension in your body?

Sound is all around us. Most of the time, we tune it out just to get through the day. But what if we listened more closely?

In The Art of Sound, artist Sofia Origo invites you to explore sound as both a source of healing and harm. After experiencing burnout, she discovered how deeply sound shapes our bodies, minds, and emotions. Sound healing became a powerful tool in her recovery, but the noise of city life also made her acutely aware of how overwhelming and dysregulating our soundscapes can be.

This exhibition is a response to that complexity. Some works were created live in response to music; others capture the layered textures of everyday environments through intuitive soundscape drawings. All the works were made in Utrecht.

Sofia acts as a visual translator for sound, transforming what we hear into what we can see - inviting you to slow down, tune in, and consider:
